Specification: Lightly peated, this mythical malt has proved a popular addition to the Arran range. On the west coast of the Isle of Arran lies a windswept and mystical peat bog called Machrie Moor. Bronze Age stone circles and standing stones are strewn across its barren, undulating terrain. One of the stone circles is known as Fingal’s Cauldron Seat, where sits a stone with a carved hole. The legendary warrior giant Fingal is said to have tethered his favourite dog Bran to this stone. This peated expression of the Arran Single Malt perfectly captures the rugged beauty and lore of the landscape.

The name of this release comes from the name of the distillery, Knockdhu, which means Black Hill in Gaelic.

Specification: Translated as Big Ocean, this unique expression is a celebration of the art of Laphroaig, with only the best batches hand selected by distillery manager for their exceptional flavour. All have been matured in first-fill-only ex-American white oak bourbon barrels in the warehouse right next to the Atlantic. This whisky is then carefully re-casked and left to sleep in the finest European oak. The result is an extraordinary fusion of flavours, from unmistakable medicinal peat, to the soft and spicy caramel tones of the American wood, to the big, rich “burnt apricot and raisin” of the European oak. Finally bottled and non chill-filtered, the distillery manager’s selected batches are marked with his signature. Anything that can withstand the Atlantic for 200 years deserves a little recognition.
