Specification: One of two releases from the anCnoc range launched in the first half of 2015, the Black Hill Reserve is an impressive single malt Scotch whisky which has been allowed to mature in first fill ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV. The name of this release comes from the name of the distillery, Knockdhu, which means Black Hill in Gaelic.

Specification: While most distilleries use their Coffey stills only to make grain whisky, Nikka use the two Coffey stills at their Miyagikyo distillery to create malt whisky too. Specification: Produced by John Distilleries in Goa, India, the Paul John range of single malt whiskies (named after their Chairman) represents a move into premium spirits for a company who are already big players in the Indian molasses 'whisky' market. Made using Indian 6-row barley from the Himalayan foothills, Brilliance is matured in bourbon barrels for 3-5 years before bottling at cask strength. (As with Amrut, the tropical climate cause greater evaporation, around 12-13% a year, but in turn they show very well at younger ages.)
Specification: Originally released for the Travel Retail market, Talisker's Dark Storm is matured in heavily charred oak casks, imparting yet more smoke and spice to the already intensely smoky whisky. A fantastic release from the distillery on the Isle of Skye.
Specification: Togouchi is a blended Japanese whisky from the producers Chugoku Jozo, who mature their whisky in a tunnel rather than a warehouse. The name comes from where the tunnel is located, in the town of Togouchi, which merged with two other towns to create a larger town called Akiota. This is their no-age-statement expression, the Togouchi Premium Blended Japanese Whisky.
Specification: A blended whisky from Japan's Yamazakura range, which is brought to market by Japanese company Sasanokawa Shuzo. The name itself a portmanteau of two Japanese terms 'Yama' means 'mountain' and 'Sakura' means cherry tree. If you think about it, a portmanteau is kind of like a blend but with words, so this name is rather apt for a Japanese blended whisky.
